Resumo:
This study aims to analyze the influence of the parameters of the Herschel Bulkley non-Newtonian fluid model on a constraint between parallel plates. Gmsh was used to create the meshes, OpenFOAM for the numerical solution of the cases analyzed and ParaView for post-processing. Three Reynolds numbers resulting in laminar flows were chosen to make changes to the fluid parameters and changes to the geometry in order to understand their influence on the flow. Given that this type of flow has applications in various industries, understanding the influence of the parameters on it can help optimize processes. The parameter that resulted in the greatest increase in the dimensionless pressure drop was the fluids power index, which represents the deviation from Newtonian behavior.
