This research aims to show how the city of São João de Meriti has been forgotten in the history of the Baixada Fluminense. From the analysis of the newspaper Correio da Lavoura and the political events of the region throughout the first half of the 20th century, it was possible to understand the paths that led the city to the path of oblivion and the loss of its memory.
