Resumo:
The research for reduction of human impacts on the environment is very strong in the present. On a planet increasingly impacted by climate change and its consequences, it is urgent to review and seek improvements to our current processes, in order to obtain more sustainable solutions, balanced with the global ecosystem. One of the important fronts of this problem is linked to the locomotion and emission of carbon to the Earth s atmosphere. More specifically, the maritime transport sector is extremely relevant and at the same time a major emitter of carbon dioxide. In this context, the present work is dedicated to the study of the impact of the introduction of batteries on the fuel consumption of vessels, and then presents analyses related to the batteries applied. The results have shown the possibility of both financial and environmental gains, by highlighting the potential economy of 32% in fossil fuels, besides clarifying important points in the decision of key criteria of the introduced battery.
