Resumo:
This paper seeks to analyze the phenomenon of the Data-Driven Economy and the emergence of the so-called zero-price platforms – i.e. market structures that operate without charging a positive price. Given the centrality of price theory and the hegemony of the Chicago School in the development of the current tools for competition analysis, the impacts of these new structures on antitrust practice are evaluated. Afterwards, considerations are made about the proposals to change analytical standards in order to conclude for the need of integrated and synergic action between data protection authorities and antitrust authorities.
