Resumo:
Alcohols play important roles on our daily lives and in the chemical industry. We can mention examples such as the use of ethanol as antiseptic - which became more important during COVID-19 pandemic - use of ethanol as fuel, use of butanol as fuel replacing diesel with less harmful emissions, and so on. The objective of this work is simulate the synthesis of n-butanol, n-hexanol and n-octanol from an ethanol source in a PFR (plug flow reactor) with recycle and optimize the process in order to increase the yield of the interest products (n-butanol, n-hexanol and n-octanol). Additionally, it was developed a guided user interface to allow users who are not familiar with programming to use the model.
