Resumo:
Despite several modern artifices for deep sea search and rescue operations of lifeboats, serious mishaps still occur during these searches. Due to the conditions of the scenario, issues such as the height of the waves and the horizon itself can obstruct the vision of rescue vehicles looking for these boats. Thus, the primary need arises to make the boat properly seen, and from this fact several systems are used. These systems range from archaic, such as chemical flags and beacons, to modern, such as electronic devices capable of communicating with the mesh of satellites. In this monograph I propose to conceptualize and dimension one more of these devices, in such a way that it works synergistically with the other devices already used. The proposed system is based on the idea of an aerostatic (balloon) inflated moments after the abandonment of the mother ship that remains anchored to the boat, in such a way that it increases by orders of magnitude the effective distance at which the balloon-plus-boat system can be sighted. Therefore, it is postulated that a system that follows the dimensions and proposals in this monograph can greatly help search and rescue efforts.
