With the thechnological advances of the industry, gas turbines were being developed in different ways. The application of this turbomachinery can be seen in various fields, such as electricity generation, aeronautical industry, naval engineering, among others. However, there is no study in the literature that compares different gas turbines on the same basis, in terms of thermodynamic analysis (energetic and exergetic).
From literature data, a database with hypotheses and thermodynamic properties, such as temperature and pressure, will be created. Thus, through MATLAB software, a thermodynamic model will be developed to perform the energy and exergetic analysis of a gas turbine. In particular, the impact of the combustion model will be considered: a simplified model considering combustion as complete and a more elaborate model considering incomplete combustion using Gibbs free energy minimization to define exhaust gas composition. The simulation took place as expected, but it was analyzed that it is necessary to be precise when choosing the cp, a fundamental element to achieve a better result. Furthermore, the refinement of the combustion model using Gibbs free energy minimization with the assumed set of hypotheses did not improve the representation of the combustion products.
