Resumo:
The present study aims to understand, from the musician s point of view, what were the impacts suffered by the change in the form of music consumption and distribution, considering Spotify s leadership in the streaming market. To do so, an exploratory research was carried out in three phases. In the first phase, secondary data on the sector and its particularities were consulted, supporting the development of the study. In the second phase, qualitative interviews were conducted with artists. In the third phase, the analysis of the interviewees reports was accomplished. In conclusion, one can highlight the need for an improvement in Spotify s payment system, which is based on a business model that needs to be reformed. Furthermore, new forms of consumption are highlighted and how they influence the artists release strategies.
