Resumo: | |||||||||||||
This study aims to analyze the possibility of implementation of a cogeneration system to produce electricity and heated water in rural properties using biogas as fuel. A generator based on the Brayton cycle was proposed as energy source, which a thermal and exergetic study, based on the first and second laws of thermodynamics was carried out, searching for sources of energy loss and irreversibility s. Three ambient temperature scenarios were created, where quantitative data of electrical, energy and energy efficiency were presented, as exergy rates destroyed in each component and for the whole cycle as well. Also, an economic model of the project was developed, which the costs associated with the implementation and operation of the plant were considered, such as biodigester for biogas production, micro gas turbine, heat exchanger, materials for civil works, maintenance and purchase of others materials. As revenue, it was considered the amount of energy that was not purchase from the basic grid in BRL/kWh. At the end of the study, it was possible to prove that in higher temperatures the electrical, thermal and exergetic efficiency are lower, when compared to lower temperatures. And it was attested that the use of rejected heat exchanger increased the efficiency of the cycle and reduced the overall rate of exergy destruction. Economically, the project proved to be viable, with a positive NPV and with a rate of return higher than the proposed discount rate.
