This project aims to analyze cracks that can appear on mechanical components under different multiaxial torsion, flexion, compression and pressure loads while mixing static and cyclic load components. One important motivation is fatigue in pipelines, which under certain conditions may be subject to multiaxial loadings with varying principal directions. By searching for the critical crack initiation plane, this project aims to create damage maps that show the type of the microcrack as well as the initiation angle for different initiation lives for 2024-T3 and 7075-T651 aluminum alloy literature data under different multiaxial workloads. A piece of code is developed in the MatLab environment, including Smith-Watson-Topper and Fatemi-Socie damage equations for crack initiation, to determine the types of cracks for different materials under different multiaxial loads.
