|
This project presents relevant concepts in the optical communication area. The currently most used
monitoring methods for optical fibers are introduced, highlighting the advantages of each one and
making a brief comparison. The reason for choosing photon-counting OTDR to be part of the developed
optical fibers monitoring system is discussed by analyzing these methods. Moreover, it s
debated the results obtained through the experimental project and all the improvements made to
reach the final result.
