Combustion is a process which is present in many different economic sectors, since 85 percent of the energy consumed in the world is generated by this process. Although it brings multiple benefits to mankind, combustion also brings environmental pollution due to the release of toxic gases and soot. The
study of combustion and computational modeling can help reduce the emission of pollutant gases, however, it has a substantial computational cost. Reduced order models (ROM) intends to decrease the computational cost associated with parametric exploration of problems. This project aims to construct a reduced model for a representative configuration of a stabilized diffusion flame in the Gülder burner. In order to accomplish this goal, data obtained through the computational fluid dynamics (CFD), where only
one parameter changes, is used to construct the ROM. In this project, six isothermal cases were studied using the CFD, aiming to create a database to create the reduced order models of fuel mass fraction and axial velocity. Comparison between the results shows that the reduced order model led to similar results to the Fluent model, but the computational cost orders were smaller.
