Resumo: | |||||||||||||
Combustion comprises the vast majority of power generation in the world, about 80 percent, and is of great importance to the industrial, transport and power generation sectors. In contrast, pollutant gases harmful to human health and the environment are emitted. As a result, burners capable of operating on poor premixed combustion are being developed as a solution to reduce pollutant emissions, especially NOx. Burners using this type of process use swirl to stabilize combustion. The present work aims to study pre-mixed turbulent flames of ethanol and air in presence of swirl. Initially, an adaptation was developed so that it could operate with ethanol. Then, from the identification of different flame topologies, diagrams of combustion regimes were traced. Stable and unstable combustion regimes were identified as a function of the total flow of the fuel / air mixture and its richness. Finally, a comparison of the combustion regime diagrams for ethanol and
methane was made.
