Resumo:
This paper objective is to review a gear design of a off-road vehicle gearbox, searching for weight optimization possibilities and it viabilities. A new gear design is done, using AGMA standards, and from that some conclusions about weight optimization viabilities are made. For the redesign, a dynamic modeling of the vehicle was considered, taking into account the main acting resistive forces, and from this was possible define the gear ratio value and the main acting forces on the gears. After the study, it was verified that the current gears already have a good level of optimization, and it is not worth investing in improvements without a study of the real service loads.
