Flexible pipelines are lengthy tubular structures used in the oil and gas industry. The flexible pipe technology has shown efficiency regarding to several applications in the petroleum industry and, therefore, it has been widely used in exploration fields around the world. One of the crucial phases in the design of a flexible pipeline is the definition of the accessories that will be built up along the pipeline. Because of the extremely long lengths, one of the essential accessories is the end-fitting, which is responsible for connecting distinct pipe segments. Since the flexible pipelines are modular, which means, they are assembled of different connected tubular structures, it becomes possible to optimize each section of the line, according to the needs. These connectors must be designed and manufactured in a way that maintains their structural integrity when under dynamic loadings of wave, current, and tide relative to the movement of the production unit on the surface. The present paper lies on analyzing the effective loads along the whole flexible riser, particularly, on connection regions, where the end-fittings are coupled to the line through assemblies of flanges. Results such as, effective tension and maximum curvature, were obtained and compared for a determined line configuration and different connection points along the line. To achieve this, global dynamic analyses were performed using the numerical simulation software based on finite elements Deeplines(TM), which has tools to manage any convergence issue due to the nonlinearity of the situations under study. The results retrieved from the analyses have allowed to verify the need of buoyancy modules and end-fittings along the line. In the other hand, it is not recommended to set end-fitting structures at certain points due to high values of curvature found. Although the pipe structure is flexible, the end-fittings are rigid structures supposed to work as connections components, and therefore, will concentrate tension.
