Resumo: | |||||||||||||
Graphene in its pure or derivative form has been a topic of increasing importance in the scientific community. It has been outstanding due to graphene s unique chemical, electrical, and mechanical properties. Its applicability and its derivatives in the area of Petroleum, has been highlighting the graphene oxide (GO) which is hydrophilic, and has been very promising to be used in the various stages of exploration and production processes such as drilling, lubrications, desalination, coating against corrosion, separation of water and oil, among others.
Drilling is a crucial step in the exploration of new sources of hydrocarbons, with the drilling fluid being a determining factor for the success of the operation.
From this context, in this present work, 3 different concentrations of graphene oxide (0,1 mg/mL, 1 mg/mL, and 5 mg/mL) were added to a model fluid with rheological properties similar to that of a drilling fluid (aqueous dispersions of carbopol with 0,15 percent w/w) by three different suspension methods.
In order to verify the influence of the GO and the method of preparation of the suspensions in the rheological properties of the carbopol dispersion, shear tests in permanent regime with variation of the shear rate of 1000 to 0,01 s-1 and, stress sweep test of 0,1 to 100 Pa were performed.
A visual analysis indicates that there is the presence of graphite oxide besides graphene oxide in the suspensions, which may be influencing the rheological measurements of the suspensions. The rheological results show that the fluid still has its behavior, following the Herschel-Bulkley model, having a yield stress and being pseudoplastic with the variation of the shear rate. The increase of GO concentration also decreases the pH of the samples, but the pH value has no quantitative to viscosity but qualitative relationship, varying with the preparation method.
