The importance of natural gas as a cleaner energy source is as high as the problems that comes with its uses, such as handling, transport and distribution. Therefore, studies on hydrocarbon stocking in salt caverns are gaining notoriety in the past few years, especially in countries which natural gas is a bigger part of its energy source. The objective proposed by this study is to understand the confined fluid effects in a salt cavern. First off, a model of a finite element well will be created in order to gauge the confined fluid modeling that will be used moving forward. Given that the standardization is done, a finite element models will be created using the advanced template Poço com caverna parametrizado (axissismétrico) developed in the Sigma2D system which was developed by Tecgraf/PUC-RIO and is property of Petrobras. Through that process, models based in an artificial lithology will be simulated, considering an excavated cavern and cased access well, under the influence of a confined fluid and without this effect. A numerical analysis will be done using the commercial program ABAQUS. The results obtained will be used to evaluate the Confined fluid effects in a salt cavern.
