Resumo:
The main objective of the study presented herein was to study and analyze the profile of cellular user in the university environment and the motivations behind their usage. The data used in this analysis was obtained through field research including a questionnaire compiled specifically for university students. The obtained results confirm that the majority of university students prefer to use monthly (post-paid) plans for cellular services and they generally do not like pay-as-you-go (pre-paid) service plans. The research also indicates that the typical university customer will generally spend R$80.00 or more per month on cellular services. The conclusion reached through this research is that university students are most certainly among the most sought-after of customer groups for cellular operators: heavy users.
