Resumo: | |||||||||||||
This study was intended to describe the experiences and strategies adopted by women entrepreneurs for reconciling the working and family lives to reduce the work-family conflict. The research focused on women who are mothers, entrepreneurs and were motivated to start a business in attempt to reconciling work and maternity. The purpose was to analyze how women have been combining the management of their business with the maternity. The research methodology chosen for the study was qualitative, with six women interviewed of several professions, belonging to different sectors, which are owners of their own business and started their enterprise in attempt to reconciling work and family. The results of this research suggest that interviewees, in the majority, left their corporate jobs and started a business right after becoming mothers and the entrepreneurship may offer some advantages, as lessening the work-family conflict, making the working time more flexible, increasing the levels of autonomy and the desire of professional accomplishment. These women have implemented strategies to balance personal and professional life and face the difficulties of being mothers and entrepreneurs.
