This study has the purpose to identify which company, BRF S.A. or JBS S.A., obtained the best economic performance between 2013 and 2017 in Brazil. To do so, a financial comparison was developed based on the calculation of its financial ratios of liquidity, leverage, profitability and assets efficiency, as well as vertical and horizontal analysis of its financial statements. The results pointed out crisis in both companies from the year 2016, with sharp drop in profitability ratios. Finally, it was found that in the face of adversity, JBS presented a slightly better recovery than the competitor, who suffered increased losses.
