This study intends to analyze the relationship between entrepreneurship and the franchise system in Brazil. It was sought, through bibliographic research, to verify that franchisees are entrepreneurs. And then, compare the motivation and entrepreneurial process of business owners and franchisees. Interviews were conducted with entrepreneurs from the State of Rio de Janeiro. It was concluded that the two types of entrepreneurs had similar entrepreneurial motivations, such as taking the dream from the role and the entrepreneurial process, for business owners, the easiest was to evaluate the opportunity and the franchisee was the management of unit already created. And the issue of risk was also analyzed and both stated to assume it.
