This document consists of the complete basic design of a photovoltaic system 5.04 kWp to be installed in the annex of the Metrology Department of the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, carried by its study of technical and economic feasibility. The technical feasibility study begins by evaluating the shading along with solarimetric data. Through this analysis it is possible to forecast the generation of electricity. It is also carried out the analysis of system losses. Made the first assessment, a study of economic viability of the system is presented, taking into account all the necessary points. After performing the feasibility study, the basic design begins. The equipment of the photovoltaic (PV) system are chosen, the limitations of these are set, and the layout of the PV array is defined. The layout characteristics of the PV array are used as inputs for the design of other system components, such as circuit breakers and cable conductors. Finally, a simplified proposal of grounding and wiring diagram is made for the connection to the electrical network at low voltage.
