Resumo:
The method was developed using the programing language of MATLAB. In the beginning, was created an algorithm that received as input STL meshes. The first analysis was done based on the distances and angles between neighbor faces. The results seemed to be good, because it allowed the cracks detection on the meshes. Unfortunately, after a deeper research, it was realized that the 3d scanners resolution was not good enough, in order to detect the typical crack mouth opening displacement. Once the first method became just a theory, it was developed a second method based on the color of the surfaces after a dye penetrant liquid application. Images were used to adjust the parameters in the algorithm. The LAB space of color was used, since it provides a more consistent way to detect colors. The results were, relatively, good and provided an additional tool to make the crack detection more reliable.
