Resumo:
The two-phase flow homogenizer works as a pressure vessel with an inside filter to mix the fluids and homogenize flows on multiphase pump inlets. The concept was developed to to be used on subsea pumps for the oil industry. The scope of this work is to allow dinamic behavior tests to be made on a two-phase flow homogenizer. For that, this work tries to specify a sensor to provide dinamic level readings inside the homogenizer. The objective is to specify a sensor that fits the operational conditions and have associated uncertainties with regards to the measurements. An ultrasonic sensor was chosen. This sensor was installed, but previous tests showed that the sensor readings were variating with regards to the variation of the pressure and level. This was not expected, as the readings depends on the speed of sound, and the speed of sound barely depends on the pressure. Therefore, this project tries to characterize the behavior of the sensor readings under different pressure loads. A test bench was set to calibrate the device and the results are presented in this work. The hysteresis and the stability time during pressure variation was also measured. The results showed that the static readings of the sensor as a matter of fact do not variate with the pressure. However, time response and sensor readings under pressure variation may go beyond the value specified by the developer. The combination between pressure variation and sound waves sent by the device is likely to affect the sensor s readings.
