Resumo:
With the rapid advancement of technology and the processing power of computers, simulation programs that use the finite element method for their calculations are increasingly accessible. Such programs can be used to predict crack and its propagation rate, essential for understanding and avoiding failures due to fatigue. The modeling of the specimen was made based on ASTM E647, but with the presence of tunneling. The Back Face Deformation technique, known as Back Face Strain, was used in this analysis since its application is more suitable for pressure vessels.
