Resumo:
The present work aims to analyze the different dog owners segments decision criteria when purchasing dog food, substantiating the analysis in the study held by Boya et al. (2014). Additionally, the work intends to compare the results found by Boya et al. (2014) and by Dotson e Hyatt (2008) (USA) with Brazilian studies on the subject. The research raised and handed out on the internet a questionnaire that obtained 746 answers from dog owners. The main results suggest a strong evidence that Brazilians have a closer relationship and are more attached to their dogs than Americans; and that the Brazilian consumers are less price sensitive when buying food for their dogs than the Americans.
