The beginning of the Real Plan, in July 1994, has allowed some very positive and significant changes in the Brazilian Economy, such as the stabilization of the local currency, known sice then as Real. With this stability, banks have lost an important mean of revenue, basically originated by the high inflation rates. It has become more difficult to reach the high level of earnings which the banks were used to, and simultaneously keep the level of the branches costs. So, changes have began to occur in the banking system, and one of them has created the greatest impact in the society as a whole, which was the charge of the services being supplied by the banks. This new revenue has helped banks to pay its operational costs, but even today, the charge of these services creates some inconveniences next to the bank customers, which consider those charges very unfair. This study aims to identify the importance of this revenue for the final results of the bank branches.
