In the present work a thermodynamic model of a vapor compression refrigeration system will be developed for low temperature (refrigerator) applications, based on the first and second law of thermodynamics, the objective being to compare and study the performance of the new refrigerating fluids operating system
designed to operate on the R134a fluid. The two variables to be optimized are the COP (Coefficient of Performance) and GWP (Global Warming Potential). Also the irreversibilities of the system proposed in our study will be analyzed. The generalized reduced gradient (GRG) method was used in the system solution of equations of the thermodynamic model and the calculation of the thermodynamic properties of the refrigerant fluids was carried out using the REFPROP (NIST Standard Reference Database 23, version 9.0).
