Resumo:
Science and Combustion Technology have a major impact on the industrial, transportation and electric power generation sectors. Technologies of premixed turbulent combustion have been developed as effective solutions to reduce NOx and soot formation in gas turbines and industrial burners. These technologies involve use of swirl stabilized combustion. Therefore, the general objective of this work is to develop a laboratory burner to study flames turbulent pre-mixed hydrocarbons and air in the presence of swirl. Two different swirler geometries, one combustion chamber of square crosssectional area and an ICCD camera were used to perform chemiluminescence imaging, among other experiments. The burner was characterized in terms of emitted power and Reynolds number. As a result, different flame topologies were obtained, which were related to the composition and richness of the mixture. From the technique Abel s Inversion, it was possible to get deconvoluted images. Finally, combustion scheme diagrams were plotted by identifying the boundaries between stable and unstable combustion regimes.
