Resumo:
According to many managers and authors believes, an attractive pay scheme is one of the best employee retention tools. Such kind of believes seems to be even more intensive in the actual competitive context. On view of this fact, this study intends to analyze if significant rewards and monetary recognition of performance contribute effectively to employee commitment. The results suggest that although being considered as important for employees satisfaction, as well as for the feeling of self-esteem, remuneration can not be considered as a motivational factor which could be treated independently from other factors, such as: working environment, perspective of career, learning, and recognition.
