Resumo: | |||||||||||||
In the current context, is necessary a technological change that reduces emissions and still having a good energy use. Alternative engines are still the most used thermal machine for the automotive sector. Wankel engines, despite having smaller volumes and weights, do not show good results in energy efficiency and pollution levels. With this situation, it is necessary to develop a rotary engine that varies the compression ratio and consequently has the capacity to adapt to the different types of fuels so that it has a good efficiency and a reduction of emissions of pollutants in the atmosphere. This graduation project is about the Kopelrot Rotary Engine, createdjk by Hugo Júlio Kopelowicz. This project was carried out at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro with the participation of students of scientific initiation under the guidance of Post-doctorate Alexandre Zuquete Guarato and Professor Sérgio Leal Braga. The Kopelrot engine is a cat-and-mouse rotary engine and considered innovative because it has the possibility of having its variable compression ratio and so can use several fuels with a better efficiency than the Flex engines, since they have An intermediate rate between ethanol and gasoline. This engine also allows the user to choose between greater power through the use of the Otto cycle or a better energy performance through the Atkinson / Miller cycle which makes it even more innovative. The process has a design phase, a manufacturing phase and a testing and validation phase. This document will present the main mechanisms of the engine, its design and its operation through numerical and 3D simulations, so that the manufacturing of the parts could be started and soon to start the assembly.
