Recognition and leadership are important issues for employees and for organizations, due to their implications for work motivation. In this study, we sought to investigate the relationship between them in a public agency of the justice area. To this end, a quantitative survey with a sample of 32 servants was held. The survey was conducted using the questionnaire LMX7 (Graen and UHL - BIEN, 1995) that evaluates the quality of leadership relations, and a questionnaire on workplace recognition developed by the author. The results suggest that there is an association between the variables recognition and LMX, i.e., team members that have a higher quality relationship with their leaders feel more recognized.
