Resumo:
The main reason to the creation of this project has to do with the SAE initiative of encouraging engineering students to look forward on their potential in order to acquire a foreseen academic and professional experience in life. Thereon, the objective of this project was to predict a part of the vehicle cooling system of Pegasus PUC-Rio Team. This monography was divided into two tasks. The first consists on the verification of a radiator available in the market. The second refers to the sizing of a new radiator using advanced surfaces. The first heat exchanger is a tube-fin radiator, model Stock, made of aluminum commercially available. The second is also a tube-fin radiator but with louvered fins. Methods such as LMTD and epsilon-NTU were employed to proceed with the calculation of the heat exchanger. Dimensionless such as Reynolds, Prandtl, Nusselt and Stanton were employed and used to solve numbers the external and internal heat transfer coefficients of the heat exchangers. To summarize, it is found the outcomes of the global heat exchanger coefficient of both radiator and the heat exchange effectiveness, and furthermore compared to the literature.
