This study aimed to understand the motivations and perceptions of taxi drivers and passengers on the adoption of cab mobile applications. The research was motivated by the growth of these applications and the interest in understanding its benefits. Through an online questionnaire with 123 passengers of taxis and in-depth interviews with eight taxi drivers in Rio de Janeiro, diverse opinions and behaviors were identified: motivations for adoption of the system, satisfaction with the service offered, the main criticisms and improvements. The results showed that the main motivations are convenience and security. The problems fall into cancellations, GPS accuracy and failure to communicate. Despite many suggested improvements, it can be ensured that the respondent users are satisfied with these applications.
