The adequate modelling of wind farms is becoming increasingly important for power system operators. Their participation in the control and stabilization of the system, during and after system faults, is becoming increasingly important.
The most widely used configurations for variable speed wind turbines are currently the doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) and fully rated converter generators (FRC). Therefore, these models were used to determine the impact of wind power on the dynamic performance of the national interconnected system. Because wind generation interacts differently with the system, its use on a large scale can result in local and global changes in the system in which they are inserted.
The most recent power system expansion and reinforcement plan developed by the national electric system operator was used to verify the dynamic performance of the models used. The case of heavy load in 2018, which has the highest wind potential, was used.
