Resumo:
Nowadays most researches aspire to both attend the international demand for green house gas emissions reduction and to develop systems and processes that are energetically efficient and cause less environmental impact. In this respect, this paper put forward the study of the replacement of base fluids by nanofluids in trigeneration systems. The replacement of base fluids by nanofluids is applied in a trigeneration architecture with vapor compression chiller, with the demands of electricity, refrigeration and heating of a commercial complex in Hong Kong. In order to have a better understanding, the energy balance calculations are based on the EUF energy utilization factor, one of the parameters available in the literature to evaluate the performance of that system. Finally, the analysis of the viability of the project confirmed the efficacy of this replacement because the amount of primary fuel consumption was reduced. Likewise lower gas emissions, along with some improvements for the internal combustion engine, such as lower ignition delay.
