Resumo:
This study aims to identify and to understand the main reasons that drive customers with low income levels to do their groceries in local mini-markets. In order to properly complete this study the author consulted some books, scientific articles, and academic works that discussed related themes. Also, the field data were collected through two process: interviews with customers and mini-market owners; and the observation of the mini-market s physical characteristics as well as of the customers behavior inside them. The results show that local mini-markets continue to be the main place where customers with low income levels do their groceries. Factors as: proximity, personal attention, and diversified payment options are considered the most important for the customers when they decide to do their groceries in some local mini-market.
