Facing a competitive landscape and extreme changes, companies must adapt to this environment, making decisions about their future. However, their choices are subjective and can bring about irreversible damage to the company. This monograph examines the purchase of VARIG by GOL Airlines and its consequences. The results indicate that the acquisition of VARIG had a negative effect on the GOL and may have been one reason for the worsening of the financial indicators of the company from 2007 to 2013.
