This study aims to understand manifestations of discrimination with low-income consumers in retail outlets and their implications for such individuals after these experiences occurred. To understand the consequences of this discrimination, in-depth interviews were done with low-income individuals, residents of the city of Rio de Janeiro who have suffered some sort of discrimination in retail environments. The reasons that encouraged such discriminations, as well as the subsequent reactions and feelings were analyzed in this study. Also, it was possible to identify the limits of liability by the company, based on the perception of the consumers.
