Resumo:
In today s competitive marketplace, efficiency plays a very important role in the success of a company. When it comes to production, the efficient allocation of resources on the shop floor is a vital task. However, this work is currently done manually, without any support of computational tools. This work presents a decision support system that includes a mathematical optimization model designed to optimally allocate the products within a factory, respecting the manufacturing capacity. The model shows the production line balancing to a set of products and their respective demands. A successful application of the model is demonstrated through a case study of an Engineer – to – Order based factory, dealing with the production of Christmas Trees for oil exploration.
