Resumo:
The high number of collisions and traffic accident victims boosted, from 1970, the development of secure embedded systems for passenger s cars, based on the understanting that most rear-end collisions are a result of distracted driving. In this context, this paper presents the design of an alert and collisions prevention system which enables the reduction of the amount and severity of injuries caused by these accidents. In this paper, key components involved in the design of a collision warning and prevention system including hardware parts (sensors and computers) and software (programming logic) will be displayed. There will also be presented unavoidable accident mitigation systems and projects from some manufacturers that are already in use in Brazil and abroad.
