Resumo:
This academic work aims to identify the factors that influence low-income women to buy cosmetics or personal hygienic items. Interviews have been made with maids who live in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Based on the data collected, it was possible to establish the profile of these women as buyers and identify certain reasons why they buy some products. The research considered three product categories: perfumes, deodorants and polish nail. Results showed that quality is the main factor in the decision to buy these products. The choice is made based mainly on the opinion of family and friends.
