Resumo:
This study aims to monitor the structural health of subsea flexible risers. Flexible risers are pipes that carry oil and gas produced from the wells to the platform or FPSO, and then, after processing, to ships or land. The production of oil in deep water in Brazil uses large-scale flexible lines as they have several advantages over other solutions, particularly their great versatility of use. The focus of the work was the fixation of the riser s sensors for monitoring the structural health. Several tests were completed in order to determine which type of glue would be most appropriate. Four types of glue were tested in total. Glues should follow certain requirements; curing time and temperature, and the viscosity so that the glue does not ooze. It was also necessary to ensure that the sensor does not slip and that the glue would not slide off when the riser suffers deformation. Tensile stress testing was carried out to simulate what would happen to the riser on the platform. Firstly, the straight wires were tested to identify the best glue. To give a more realistic approach, these wires were then bent and retested, as with this application, the wires do not lie straight to the riser; they are usually at an inclination of 25 degrees to 55 degrees. With these tests, it was possible to determine if the glues were appropriate for the application and to decide which would be most suitable.
