In this project, a system able to control a scale vehicle through a radio frequency transmission system has been developed. A microcontroller performed the dynamic reading of user s control system and sent the commands to another microcontroller that actuated the scale vehicle.
For this purpose, Arduino Mega 2560 microcontrollers have been used, because they have more advantages than the common microcontrollers, such as more serial ports, higher processing rate and a possibility to add inputs.
Furthermore, there would be the storing of some vehicle s data, a dedicated microcontroller that would perform the data acquisition through sensors and a recording module. For this task, the Arduino Uno microcontroller has been used, because there was no need for a better one. It read the data from sensors and wrote them into a memory card.
Dynamic tests have been performed aiming a better knowledge about the scale vehicle s dynamic behavior. Such tests are important by the way that help in modelling physical systems, in parameter estimation and in the model validation.
This project s objective is controlling the vehicle through a radio frequency transmission system aiming the development of autonomous vehicles.
