This paper present the evolution of the topic of Project Management has been suffering, especially on the area of Information Technology. Thereafter, the PMBOK Guide as well as Scrum, an agile methodology, will be briefed in order to focus on the research. This research has purpose to present the most used tools by companies allocated in Rio de Janeiro in different sectors, for the area of IT projects. Its result will point that companies are not tied to just one methodology or reference guide, but embrace hybrid methodologies which make the joining methods with practices and values of the company.
