Resumo:
The main goal of the present work is to verify the efficiency of the Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method for the determination of mechanical elastic properties of composite materials. Therefore a series of tensile and compressive tests were made with composite materials made of carbon fiber and epoxy matrix.The tests were followed by mesurements of strain using both the DIC’s and the strain gage’s technics. With the results of the tests and after a study of the composite material stress and strain relation’s theory, it was possible to calculate the mechanical properties of the material. After that comparisons of the results obtained with both methods were made. As final analysis, the results of the experiments were considered satisfatory, being possible to verify a good correlation between both technics.
