The main goal of this paper is to find if the Brazilian consumer is cautious and feels prepared to surf the web and consume in a digital environment without falling victim to devious online practices. Also, to determine of said consumer is able to recognize and identify these practices as such. In order to achieve such goal, a website was developed, simulating a brief online shopping experience, in which standard internet deceitful practices were included. Then, after the simulation, subjects were asked to fill out a survey, in which it was attempted to identify how the consumer feels towards online transactions and if they perceived deceitfulness in any of the items described. It was concluded that the Brazilian consumer surfs the web and consumes online with ease, being able to fully identify attempts of deception.
