Resumo:
The final objective of this work consists of identifying if the low-income population of Rio de Janeiro uses the microloan in order to open or expand a business of their own. Through informal interviews it was possible to identify that this issue is little known by people of low incomes. As the analysis of results revealed the preference of loan made with relatives and friends. Opening a business in most cases was positive, generating a personal satisfaction as well as an improvement in quality of life of those interviewed. Finally, future research related to the theme were also suggested.
