Along with the spread of communication networks, the variety of new devices is demanding a complex management capable of monitoring all kind of technology from different vendors. The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), which works on the application layer of the OSI model, emerges as the best solution on management’s protocols for this need. Besides, the rush of this century requires a way to manage the informations on the network without loosing too much time for it. Summarizing, it would be ideal if regular users could fastly manage network connections their on, with simple programs and no need for a trained manager. On this work we aim to understand with details the SNMP protocol in way to develop such ideal program. To do it, we went through the concepts of C programming language inside Microsoft Visual Studio platform.
