Resumo:
The goal of this work is to study the applicability of software components to low–level systems. Despite it’s many advantages and widespread use in complex high–level applications, this technology is seldom used in low–level systems software. This is primarily due to the severe resource constraints or performance requirements to which these systems are subjected. However, the reasons to use components in this context are as strong as for high-level application. In this work, we evaluate the application of a component model in C plus plus to ReservationSuite, a tool for the reservation of computational resources in general purpose operating systems. Special attention will be given to the use of components to express reservation policies and their hierarchical composition.
